WHAT IS MUSIC THERAPY?

At its heart, music therapy meets children where they are through something they naturally love and connect with.

As defined by the American Music Therapy Association (AMTA), music therapy is the clinical and evidence-based use of music interventions to accomplish individualized goals within a therapeutic relationship by a credentialed professional. We use tailored music therapy programs to help individuals reach developmental and wellness milestones.

In this group, we bring those goals to life through engaging, multi-sensory experiences:

  • Instruments & iPad activities to build fine motor control, hand-eye coordination, and communication.

  • Scarves, parachutes, and dancing to encourage gross motor coordination, shared attention, and joyful social connection.

  • A predictable, consistent routine each week to provide structure, minimize anxiety, and ensure a comfortable, safe environment for everyone.

Because sessions are motivating and strengths-based, it feels like play to the kids, while we are actively building functional skills that carry over into home, school, and everyday life.
